Our Services
In addition to taking on overall responsibility for the arrangement of the funeral, which may be done at our offices, or in the comfort of your own home, AW Blair & Sons offer advice on all essential aspects of the funeral, such as registration, non-religious funerals, bereavement benefits, also obituary notices, newspaper intimation and social personal matters. We offer the bereavement guard scheme which will bar unwanted telephone calls following a bereavement.

Coffins & Urns: An extensive range of coffins, caskets and cremation urns is available (including environmentally friendly), with a broad range of fittings, gowns and interiors.

Funeral Vehicles: We offer modern and well maintained funeral vehicles seating seven mourners with uniformed chauffeurs to convey family mourners in comfort.

Personalised Service Sheets: Orders of service or hymn sheets are available which may be personalised, in various ways, in memory of the deceased.

Embalming Service: Our preparation is to the highest standard with embalming, if required, carried out to the standards laid down by the British Institute of Embalmers. In cases where there is to be a long delay prior to the funeral, the essential specialised embalming facilities are on hand.

Repatriation Service: Where national or international repatriation is required embalming is often employed. This would include hairdressing and cosmetology as necessary. Specialised treatment utilising restorative art would be available in cases of trauma. The overall aim would be to create an attitude of peaceful repose in the deceased which is of great consolation to the bereaved.
In addition, a private refridgerated mortuary is available on the premises.

Funeral Reception: Where it is desired to hold a reception after the funeral, we liaise with staff at the venue of your choice to provide a purvey.

Pre-paid Funeral Plans: For those who seek to pre-arrange their own funeral, Golden Charter is our recommended funeral plan. This allows arrangements to be tailored to suit personal requirements down to the finest detail such as choice of hymns or music. Pre-payment allows for peace of mind in knowing that everything has been taken care of.

Bereavement Counselling: Trained counsellors are available for those who find extreme difficulty in coping with bereavement.

Memorials: …A lasting tribute – The services of monumental sculptor may be arranged which would involve liaison with Burial Authorities. This ensures that all necessary local regulations are observed. A wide range of granite memorials is on hand with many varieties, colours, shapes and styles to choose from.
Memorials range from small items such as vases, plaques and hearts to elaborate monuments.

Grave Markers : Where it is desired to mark a grave until such times as a memorial can be erected, an engraved marker may be provided.
